AEJF National Competition 14th June 2008
As many of you are aware a tragic accident occurred in the swimming pool at the Blackwater Leisure Centre of a 7-year old member of Dockland Judo Club. This has been extremely traumatic to many people and if anyone feels they need to talk about it, we are here for you and would remain totally confidential. My deepest thanks to everyone that helped to manage/control with their professional skills during that time.
Club Rules
Remember the basic 12 commandments of our club;
[1] Gi’s should be clean, [2] Finger and Toe nails cut short, [3] No jewellery [unless substantially covered-Instructors cannot do this for you only you or your parents], [4] Go to the loo before hand, [5] Do NOT walk on the floor with bare feet, [6] Rei when you enter the Dojo [hall], onto the mat, off the mat and when you leave, [7] NO one under the age of 18 years allowed in the Kitchen of the West Maldon Community Centre, [8] Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated, [9] Always request permission of the Senior grade on the mat to leave the mat area, [10] Respect others if you wish to be respected, [11] No up to date licence, no training as this is against the law [12] Look, Listen and Learn. NB. If you have piercing that can’t be removed, it is up to YOU or a PARENT to ensure it/they are suitably covered as instructors are not allowed to carry this action out.
Club Sweat Shirts
Don’t forget every member is issued with a free Blackwater Judo Club Sweat Shirt. If you however wish to make a donation no matter how small, this will be put in the charity collection. If you haven’t got your yet, then let me, Jane or Bob know.
Coaching awards [seniors and juniors]
Although we introduced coaching assessments in 2007 for Students over 14-years [this is flexible] and 3rd Kyu + 3 Blue tabs to still very few members has actually completed the mandatory parts and therefore not received the first award. We are there to help but the rest is up to you.
Tim Dunn Memorial Challenge 26th April 2008 10am – 1pm
I am pleased to say this event was extremely successful and can confirm we know have a total of £1,350 to donate to the Essex Air Ambulance. I am in contact with them to arrange for am presentation of the cheque at the club – date to be advised. Well done to everyone that took part in this extremely physical challenging event.
Grading
Congratulations to everyone who attended the National grading especially to Luke Vincent as he attained his Junior Black belt status. Work hard and the results will come.
Annual BBQ
