I expect ALL Blackwater  Squad members to attend unless confirmed prior arrangements and would like to see many others from the club who will be viewed to see who could join the squad, in attendance.

Dear John Pegram,

 I am writing to express my thanks and gratitude to you all for your outstanding support.  Recently, I approached the members of Blackwater  Judo Club and requested for individual’s to collect plastic milk bottle lids, in order to support a young lady with physical disabilities that requires a wheelchair to be built to specification for her individual needs.  The goal was to collect the girl’s body weight in milk bottle lids in order for a company to provide the funds required for the wheelchair to be built.

 As a result of your commitment and dedication to this cause, we have raised so many milk bottle lids that the young lady, and a young man in the same position are both now having wheelchairs designed and built to specification and this will enhance their quality of life and independence.

 It is because of supportive, committed caring community clubs like yourselves, that miracles such as this can take place.  I thank you all for your dedication and wish you every success in future ventures you make impact upon.

Congratulations to the 4-seniors who took their club grading on Saturday 17th October ‘09. The level of expertise and commitment was very high with each of the Judoka achieving their grade.

National Grading Results

11th October 2009

Congratulations to those members of Blackwater Judo Club who attended the National Grading at Mersea Island Judo Club on Sunday 11th October 2009. A big thank you must also go to those helpers from the club that made the event so successful.

A very special well done must go to Joshua Harrington with his Nage no Kata scoring 96% helped by his Uki Leanne Taylor credited for her good skills. This is a splendid result seeing as Joshua and Leanne only partnered up the day before !!

Another huge well done goes to Joe Hazell-Young for his contest skills defeating all Kyu grades in his pool including one twice his size.

With 9 Golds, 5 Silvers and 10 Bronzes Blackwater JC were top medal winners.

Gold medals went to Abbey Carrol, Emily Carter, Roxanne Mashadi, Steven Mawdsley, Dylan Siggers, Jordan Hewes, Robert Mashardi, Aaron Vincent (Senior) and Lee Palmer (Senior).

Silver medals went to Anna Pearse, Megan Harrington, Roxanne Mashardi, Thomas Mawdsley and Jacob Ellis (Senior).

Bronze medals went to Emily Carter, Marrianne Pretor, Megan Harington, Fraser Vincent, Liam West, Harry Scott, Frank Ash, Oliver Scott, Jordan Hewes, Ryan Bowtell (Senior – retired injured).

Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to all those who turned up to support the squad on its first outing.

In May 2009 Maldon Mayor David Denyer awarded the Town Mayor Award for Services to the Community to Sensei John. Cllr Denyer said “We decided he had shown consistent dedication to the judo club, which is an outstanding community group for the town”

On being presented with the award John said “I am pleased to have been nominated and delighted to have been presented with the award, which really is a testament to the parents and many volunteers who have helped me keep the club running.”
